Suspended President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ranko Debevec, former director of the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) Osman Mehmedagić and suspended Court official Milisav Pijuk refused to plead guilty to the indictment charging them with abuse of office and other crimes.
Considering that they did not want to plead, judge Dalida Burzić ex officio noted in the minutes that they declared that they were not guilty.
The defense said that the accused will not plead, because the decision on transferring this case to another court has not yet been completed. “Given the procedural situation, we believe that the conditions for a plea have not been met,” said Debevac’s defense attorney, Tatjana Vasić.
Mehmedagić’s defense attorney, Nermin Mulalić, also said sično, and Pijuk’s lawyer, Ratko Gengo, joined their position.
The accused said that they understood the indictment which, with the fact that Debevec had a note.
“I only understood the indictment linguistically,” he said.
At the end, defense attorney Vasić stated that accepting the minutes from the hearing does not mean that the Defense accepts the jurisdiction of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to conduct this criminal proceeding, reports BIRN BiH.
Debevec was accused of abuse of position or authority, forgery of an official document, receiving a reward or other form of benefit for trade in influence, unauthorized wiretapping and sound or optical recording, as well as for false representation and violation of the Law on Gender Equality of BiH.
Mehmedagić is charged with falsifying an official document, as well as abuse of position or authority, while Pijuk, together with Debevac, is included in the count of the indictment that charges them with false representation and violation of the Law on Gender Equality of BiH.
The indictment against them was confirmed in August. As Detektor wrote earlier, the defense of Debevac submitted an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, requesting that the decision confirming the indictment be annulled.
