“There are still a few small details, but I think we are very fast at that moment,” replied Plenković to the question about when Bosnia and Herzegovina could open the negotiations that the European Council conditionally approved in March last year.
The appointment of the chief negotiator and his possible deputies is expected, considering the order of BiH, and after that, reforms should be started, said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia.
“Croatia is the most engaged in support, and I believe it will happen very soon,” he pointed out.
Plenković said that this topic “if there is an opportunity” will be discussed at the meeting of the European Council on Thursday in Brussels, but certainly at the meeting of that body in December, before which a new meeting at the summit of the EU – Western Balkans is planned.
“It is particularly important for Bosnia and Herzegovina to try to solve the issue of a fair electoral law before the elections, which are about a year away, so that everyone is satisfied and represented,” said the Prime Minister.
The Berlin Process format was launched in 2014 at the conference of the countries of the Western Balkans and at the initiative of Germany.
Today, it gathers all six countries of the area, together with partner governments – from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and the United Kingdom – with the participation of European institutions, international financial organizations and representatives of the civil sector, reports Hina.
