Shaalan in the southern part of Gaza, in Khan Younis, tried to provide food and medications for his seriously ill daughter Maryam, facing kidney failure and serious blood poisoning. Instead of returning home from the help, his father did not return alive.
This sports worker was one of the recognizable faces of the Palestinian basketball and played for several local clubs. His death comes at the moment when tensions in the region are extremely high, and the number of victims is growing.
