The second phase will cover the remaining part of the works on construction, installations, water purification technology and equipment.
– Phase one is in its final months. The contract amounted to about 10.5 million, with VAT 12 million marks. That contract number one will be finished in a couple of months, and the preparation of tender number two, for the second phase, for the complete completion of the pool, except for part of the ground floor, is underway. The works are being carried out continuously, so the second phase will be continued immediately – Edin Prašo, director of the Directorate for the Construction of the Cultural and Sports Center (KSC) Mostar, told Fena.
As he explained, the works on the ground floor will be done by communal services, so they are not part of the tender.
– We are now doing the minimum part of the work on the ground floor, some paths for movement, arrival and the like. Through the Federal Ministry of Culture, we secured all the necessary funds for the first phase of construction. Some money will “threaten” from those funds, approximately 800-900 thousand marks, so it is possible to go to tender two – added Prašo.
According to him, funds were also promised for the continuation of construction in the second phase.
– The Federal Ministry of Culture promised us 8 million marks for two years. If we get a contractor who is close to those numbers, and if we are lucky, with some of our small efforts, we will probably be able to finance the entire construction through those two budgets of the Federal Ministry, because the budget estimate is about 22 million marks, but the expected amount of work is less – emphasized Prašo.
According to him, the completion of the project is expected in two years from the start of the second phase.
– Regarding the content that this pool will ultimately offer, we can only talk about those that belong to the water polo competition, swimming in the small pool and the Olympic program in the large pool. There are no other programs, and eventually there could be some kind of water games, school diving, swimming schools and similar school activities – emphasized Prašo.
After the completion of the construction of the Olympic pool complex, the possibility of expanding the contents opens up.
– The swimming pool complex is not intended to be only a swimming pool facility, but facilities are planned that create the possibility that the facility can be connected to the aquapark on the other side of the Neretva River, and in terms of content, it can be integrated into the existing and future programs of the Cantonal Hospital in Juzni Logor – said Prašo, explaining that next to the swimming pool complex, hotel and recreational facilities belonging to that hospital are planned.
