In the joint statement, the leaders of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norwegian and Sweden, said that for achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia, a ceasefire and security guarantee for Kiev.
“We welcome President Trump’s statement that the United States will be ready to participate in the provision of security guarantees. No restrictions on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, nor its cooperation with other countries”, stated in the statement. Leaders also stressed that Russia has no right to veto on the Ukrainian path to the European Union and NATO.
The document also requires that Russia “urgently returns” children taken from occupied areas, as well as war prisoners and civilians held in custody.
“As Russia continues with killing, we will continue to amplify sanctions and other economic measures to put pressure on the Russian war economy,” the leaders said.
Trump stated that he agreed with Putin as peace should be achieved without prior interruption of fire – which has so far been a request that Ukraine and European Allies have considered the U.S.
