Manchester United are already working on plans for next season, and one of the names on their shortlist for the position of head coach is Niko Kovac.
The Croatian coach, who currently leads Borussia Dortmund, is considered a profile that should be carefully monitored in the coming months, writes the English football portal TEAMtalk.
At this stage no direct contacts or negotiations between Manchester United and Kovac. The English club does not plan to open official talks until late spring, when the picture of the future technical project will be clearer. Kovac’s name has been associated with the Premier League in recent weeks. Chelsea gave him serious consideration before appointing him Liam Rosenior as substitutes for Enzo Marescu. During that process, the London club made contact to determine if there was a possibility of bringing in a Croatian coach.
Interest was stimulated by the sports director Laurence Stewartwho knows Kovač well from the time they worked together in Monaco. However, those initial talks quickly showed that Kovac had no intention of leaving Borussia Dortmund during the season.
The Croatian coach is under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2027. He started his successful coaching career on the bench Croatian U-21 national team, after which he led the strongest national selection.
