“Taking into account the increasing and complex security situation in the city, and especially the attack that happened in front of our school, we feel the responsibility of the urgent need for concrete measures. The security of our students and employees, but also of all citizens,” the school said.
From the Gymnasium, they point out that they have exhausted all the measures as an educational institution available – from the appeal to the competent authorities, to organize education with the police and experts, and enhanced pedagogical work in school communities.
On behalf of students, parents and staff, the school sent concrete requirements:
strengthen police surveillance in the central zone and the entire city,
install video surveillance, especially in the park Zrinjevac,
Establish a professional team that would continuously implement preventive programs in primary and secondary schools in the development of empathy, positive values, parental competencies, conflict resolution and strengthening social skills.
“Building a healthier environment in which children will have the opportunity to develop their emotional and social skills to act on the causes of violence, not only on its consequences,” they order from school.
