At this year’s international physics, held in Paris, Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved significant success thanks to the great results of its students.
Among the 406 competitors from 92 countries, the Bronze Medal won Muhammad Numanovic, the student of the Richmond Park of the International High School from Tuzla, which once again confirmed the status of the most successful young physicist in the history of our state. Praise was also assigned to Nedim Begović, Philip Christmas and Leili Baturić, which leaves the entire team from BiH a strong impression on the world scene.
Muhammad has already won three medals on European and three medals at the International Physics Olympiad, and its name will enter the historic register of 120 most successful students in the 55th anniversary of this prestigious competition. In the exclusive comment, he pointed out that great gratitude owed to his school, which allowed him additional time and support for preparation. As I say, the school recognizes potential and creates a space in which students can direct all forces according to knowledge and results, reports BHRT.
His professor, Dina Mehanovic Hurtić, emphasizes that BiH has a large number of talented young people, but that their success depends on whether the society will give them enough space, support and chances to grow.
“Young like Muhammad, but also many others we have educated in recent years, show that we have a bright future, if we know them to keep and appreciate,” the teacher points out.
Despite the open opportunities for schooling to continue on numerous prestigious world universities, Numanovic decided to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He enrolled in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Tuzla, with a desire to study and physics extremely. Asked why he did not go abroad, he meets honestly – more motivates him the idea to build his knowledge and shares here, among people and institutions that already support it and where he sees the opportunity to help others.
His decision causes admiration, but also opens an important issue – how to create conditions that exceptional young people like him are not exceptions that leave, but the core of future scientific and social renewal of the country. At the Richmond Park school point out that the results of their students of a long-term joint work of professors, mentors and families, and the numerous recognitions that won during the year show that the commitment and education is paid.
Example Muhammad Numanović is not just a story about a medal, but a young man who, instead of giving her belly for bread, will decide to stay with his knowledge to build a community. In the time when departure is dominated, he chooses remaining. And that is his greatest victory.
