The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Ministry of Physical Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of Zenica-Doboj Canton signed an agreement that defines mutual obligations in the implementation of the air quality improvement project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The agreement was concluded on the basis of the Loan Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD, which is provided with a total of 46.1 million euros for the implementation of the project in the Federation of BiH. Of this amount, 8 million euros is intended for activities in Zenica-Doboj Canton. The agreement was signed by the Federal Minister of the Environment and Tourism of Nasih Pozder and the Minister of Physical Planning, Transport and Communications and Protection of the ZDK environment Adnan Shabani.
The agreement refers to the implementation of activities to strengthen the monitoring and management of air quality; Spreading sustainable heating and energy efficiency in individual housing. Also, the Agreement is determined that the implementation of the project at the Federation of BiH will be conducted by the Project Management (PMU) in the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, while the Project Implementation Team (PT) will be formed at the ZDK level, which will provide technical and operational support. This project envisages that 3 to 4 thousand households will have direct benefits regarding sustainable heating and energy efficiency.
Minister Pozzer emphasized that this Agreement is created on the basis for concrete measures that will contribute to reducing air pollution and improving the quality of citizens.
– This is a strategic project that will enable the modernization of air quality monitoring systems, but also concrete interventions – such as replacement of the Heating System and Energy Renovation of Households. We are proud that Zenica-Doboj Canton among the first partners in his realization, and I invite other cantons to take advantage of the opportunities that exist for improving the air quality – said Nasiha Pozder Minister.
Minister Sabana pointed out that the implementation of this project will directly respond to the problem of air pollution in Zenica-Doboj Canton.
– Thanks to this agreement, the Cantonal Ministry will have the capacities and support to implement measures that are in the interest of public health and environmental protection. This is a historic project, another in a sequence we work with the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, why I thank Minister Pozder for support for all citizens of Zenica – Doboj Canton and Federation of BiH – said Minister Adnan Shabani.
Within the continuous support of the Government of Zenica – Doboj Canton and the relevant decrease in the reduction of air pollution, in late last year, the registry of home fires in the CC was provided for 330,000 KM from the Budget.
