Michele Šego returned to Poljud after two and a half years, HNK Hajduk announced late Monday evening.
The club reached an agreement on Šega’s transfer with NK Varaždinwhere he played from 2022. The 24-year-old offensive player signed a contract with the Whites for the duration until the summer of 2028and he took his number 15 again.
During his stay in Varaždin, for which he played 19 games this season and scored 4 goals with 4 assists, he stood out the most in the wing position. Michele took his first football steps in Omladinac from Vranjica, then moved to Adriatic, from where he arrived at Hajduk Academy in 2015.
He started playing for Hajduk’s former second team when he was just over 16 years old, and made his debut for the first team when he was 17 and a half years old (in 2008). He played for Hajduk a total of 15 official matches and scored one goal.
From 2020 until his departure from Hajduk, he played on loan in Slaven Belup, Slovenian Brav, Dugopolje and the aforementioned Varaždin.
It’s a great feeling to be back in Hajduk. After a couple of years of being away and proving myself on the surrounding road, everything finally fell into place and I returned home. I think I have matured, learned a lot and am ready to prove myself again. I didn’t really manage the first time, but everything that happened later came in handy, I gathered a great experience.
In the last two years in Varaždin, I was healthy, without injuries, I played well and I want to continue like that in Hajduk’s jersey. I know the team from each other’s meetings, not so well in person, but I have time to get to know everyone better and I’m looking forward to it. My expectations are the highest possiblewe all know how big the Club is and what is required, and my personal one is just to stay healthy, Šego said after signing for Bijele.
