German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Tuesday that Germany will not support the Western Allian’s initiative for the recognition of the Palestinian state at the next General Assembly of the United Nations in September.
Merz said this at the Joint Media Conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who announced last month that Canada would recognize Palestine, after similar announcements of France and Great Britain.
– The position of the Federal Government is clear when it comes to possible recognition of the state of Palestine – said Merz.
– Canada knows that. We will not join that initiative. We do not consider that the conditions are met – the German Chancellor added.
