The former first man of Dinamo Zagreb, Zdravko Mamić, spoke on the Zaja Mind podcast about his relationship with Luka Modrić, saying that he could and should have helped him during the trial in Croatia, but he didn’t.
We remind you, Zdravko Mamić was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for extracting money from Dinamo.
He could do anything, but Luka is not that type. He lives to play football. And the gang around him did not allow or suggest him to be more proactive. And of course he could and should have – said Mamić and added:
That contract I gave him, I broke up one time. I requested that contract from Luka Modrić through an intermediary because I have never been in direct contact with him. I asked him to give it to me, to show it to the court and the whole public because it would absolve me of guilt. That would corroborate his testimony more than anything – explained Mamić, reports Pogled.
After that, Mamić continued.
And he never wanted to give me that contract. I guess they were afraid that the contract would show what rights I had and what I gave up, that is, that I wouldn’t retroactively negate that contract. I don’t see any other reason because it could help me tremendously since only he owns it – underlined Mamić.
We remind you that Modrić accused Mamić during his testimony in USKOK, but then at the trial of the former head of Dinamo, he answered key questions with: “I don’t remember.”
The prosecution raised the case twice indictments against Modrić and Dejan Lovren for false testimony at the trial of Mamić in Osijek, but the Zagreb courts rejected them both times, so the trial of Modrić and Lovren never took place.
