On that occasion, he talked to the lady of Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom Prime Minister, and Thomas Botzios, Director for the Adriatic Region and the Western Balkans at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy.
At a meeting with the lady Karen Pierce, Minister Konaković thanked the United Kingdom on consistent and strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially during the recent hearing in the UN Security Council on the situation in our country. He expressed hope that this support would continue, with a special focus on strengthening the rule of law, institutions and democratic values. Konaković reiterated BiH’s clear commitment to EU and NATO membership, as coming from Republika Srpska, emphasizing that the President of the RS Milorad Dodik represent the Constitutional Order of BiH and directly endanger the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Special envoy Pierce confirmed the solid support of the United Kingdom to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and safety of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She emphasized the importance of BiH’s stability not only for the region but also for the whole of Europe, and supported the continuation of Euro-Atlantic integration. It was also discussed with the marking of 30. The anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, EUFOR Althea mission, as well as the upcoming Summit of the Berlin Process, which will be held in the United Kingdom this year.
The day before, Minister Konaković talked to Thomas Botzios, Director for the Adriatic Region and the Western Balkans in the Italy’s Foreign Ministry. The topic of the conversation was bilateral relations between the two countries, the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the current political and security situation.
Konaković expressed gratitude to Italy for support through mechanisms such as the group “Friends of the Western Balkans” and stressed the importance of continuing close political dialogue. He also introduced an interlocutor with escalation of the crisis caused by institutional attacks from the Republika Srpska, which he assessed as a direct stroke on the constitutional order and peace in the country.
In the name of Italy, the director of Botzios expressed full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, condemned the destabilizing moves of the entity authorities, and stressed the importance of transcending the crisis in order to enter the country and EU and NATO integrations. There were also words in the meeting and to improve economic cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Konaković pointed out that the meetings like these are key to the maintenance of international support and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed the expectation that European partners will continue to play an active role in the protection of the constitutional order and assistance in further construction of democratic institutions.
