Zadar basketball players were defeated in Sarajevo by Bosnia 85-93 after overtime in the match of the 13th round of Group B of the ABA League. Coach Danijel Jusup did not hide his disappointment after the defeat, stressing that his team had a winning game in hand.
– A difficult defeat for us, we had won the game and we should not have allowed this. We had a lot of chances in the regular part, open shots, if one had gone in we would have easily brought the game to an end, Bosnia punished that – Zadar coach Danijel Jusup said after the game.
Entering the last minute, Zadar had a lead of four points, and in the last 12 seconds it was 76-74. However, they failed to score a basket, and captain Marko Ramljak hit only one shot. The hosts hit a three-pointer in the remaining three seconds and won overtime, in which they won with the support of the fans.
The coach added that the result hurts, but that the team should stay focused and continue working. He emphasized that this is the fifth game in which they have lost in a similar way and that it does not affect the play-off, because considering the budget, Zadar is not in the competition for the top.
– This defeat really hurts, the last game we didn’t score to win, now they scored. We need to calm down a bit and continue working. When I made changes in the first part, the result dropped drastically, I tried to rest the players from the first lineup for two or three minutes. We had control until the very end, there was no need to do anything else, we had to either score shots or defend. I wouldn’t say the game decided the season. As for the play-offs, we are not burdened with it, considering the budget, we are not close. I’m sorry guys, we’re fighting, we’re playing well, this is the fifth game we’ve lost in this way and it really hurts. It’s my fault that we didn’t reward ourselves with a victory, not because of the play-off – added Jusup.
