Indian authorities have said that a car explosion that killed eight people and injured at least 20 in the capital New Delhi on Monday has been classified as a “terrorist incident”.
According to a resolution adopted by the federal cabinet of ministers, the explosion is being investigated under anti-terrorism laws, and security services are continuing their search for the people suspected of being behind the attack.
The explosion caused a large fire and panic in part of the city, and the authorities stepped up security measures across the capital. Details about possible motives and responsible groups have not been released for now.
