Last night, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed the Decision declaring November 6 as the Day of Mourning in FBiH at an emergency session.
– The decision declares November 6, 2025 as the Day of Mourning in FBiH due to the tragic event and the suffering of 11 residents in the Retirement Home in Tuzla, the Government Public Relations Office announced.
The Day of Mourning is marked by the mandatory display of the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at half-mast, i.e. mast, on the buildings of legislative, executive and judicial authorities, public institutions, institutions and other legal entities in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the Day of Mourning, programs of a cultural and entertainment character cannot be held in public places in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and media houses in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are obliged to coordinate and adapt their program contents to the Day of Mourning.
The decision enters into force on the day of its adoption and is published in the Official Gazette of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Also, the mayor of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Siniša Milić, declared November 6 as the Day of Mourning in the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the tragic loss of human life caused by the fire in the Retirement Home in Tuzla.
The Day of Mourning was not declared throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina because at the extraordinary telephone session of the Council of Ministers there was no quorum to work and decide on the Proposal for the Decision on declaring November 6, 2025 as the Day of Mourning of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was proposed by the Office of the Chairman.
There were eight votes for the decision, while two members of the BiH Council of Ministers did not vote.
