The event was open to all citizens and guests, and the organizers emphasize that such meetings send a strong message of peace and coexistence from the heart of Mostar, emphasizing the importance of preserving tradition in modern times.
– More than ten years ago, the outdoor iftar started in the organization of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Mostar, and for the past five years, the public iftar has been held as part of the Ramadan event in Mostar.
We prepared 900 meals and this is a gift from us, the event organizers, to the people of Mostar and our guests – said Harun Kurtović, a member of the Organizing Committee of the Ramadan event in Mostar.
In addition to a common meal, an appropriate religious program was arranged in the surroundings of the Old Town.
– We see how beautiful and colorful it looks when we organize something really big in the heart of the Old Town, in the heart of the cultural and historical heritage of Mostar. All foreigners and visitors who come here are delighted, and so are the local population. After this, we also have the Eid concert of Nihad Alibegović in the Midhat Hujdur Hujka hall, and all the cultural and religious program so far has been excellent and with great interest from the Mostar audience and visitors from all parts of BiH and the region – said councilor in the Mostar City Council Haris Nazdraić.
The joint iftar was also attended by the Minister of Finance of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Adil Šuta:
– I am glad that, as the cantonal minister, I can continue this tradition started by the City Council. The government of HNŽ supports this and all other similar manifestations that attract a large number of citizens, and today in the Old Town we are showing the charm of Ramadan and to feel the combination of culture, tradition, religion and everything that makes Mostar unique and specific.
