Due to the extremely high air temperatures and heat waves, the Iranian authorities declared the so-called “Holidays due to heat” in 28 provinces across the country, with the aim of reducing electricity consumption.
Government institutions and banks are temporarily closed, and the authorities invite citizens to avoid staying outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
In the capital of Tehran, where temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius, many residents seek refreshments in public places, such as parks and fountains, reports to Anadol.
Authorities also intensified efforts to assist the most vulnerable categories of the population, including the elderly and those without permanent accommodation.
Officials warn that the heat wave could take a few more days, and appeal to citizens to follow health care advice during extreme weather conditions.
