Pearce is responsible for the deaths of model Christy Giles and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, who died of fentanyl overdoses.
According to information from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Pearce and another man, Brant Osborn, met with Giles and Cabrales-Arzola in November 2021. Authorities say the women went with them to Pearce’s apartment, where they were given a lethal dose of the drugs GHB and fentanyl. Although Cabrales-Arzola called for a ride approximately 35 minutes after arriving at the apartment, she ultimately did not leave.
After the women lost consciousness, Pearce and Osborne carried them out of the apartment and left them outside two different hospitals in Los Angeles. Giles died before arriving at the hospital, while Cabrales-Arzola spent 11 days on life support before her family made the decision to turn it off.
In addition to the deaths of the two women, Pearce was also convicted of raping seven other women between 2007 and 2021. The charges included three counts of rape with force, two counts of sexual penetration with force, one count of raping an unconscious victim and one count of forcible sodomy.
After his arrest in December 2021, seven women came forward with allegations. Pearce denied all charges at trial, claiming he had never met one of the women and that the other encounters were consensual.
“This verdict brings long-awaited justice for the deceased girls and the brave victims of sexual assault who came forward and testified,” said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. “The victims were not only sexually assaulted, but the lives of Cabrales-Arzola and Giles were stolen in one of the most devastating ways – by Pearce’s fentanyl-induced sexual assault.”
Pearce’s co-defendant, Brant Osborne, is due to face a retrial next month, in November 2025, after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict against him on two counts of accessory to murder.
