Although the guests opened the match well and led 12:4, the first period of the game ended in a tie – 17:17, and foreshadowed a dramatic night in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in one of the group “B” derbies of the renowned competition.
The visitors from Croatia were slightly better in the second quarter and went to the break with a two-point advantage (42:40), primarily thanks to the great play of Montenegrin Vladimir Mihailović.
In the third quarter too, there was a big fight on the field, and Zadar was leading 63:60 in the last 10 minutes of the game.
The last period brought an identical scenario on the floor. More precisely, a real drama was seen! With three seconds left, Zadar captain Marko Ramljak, with the score 76:74 for his team, shot two free throws. He threw in only one and left the “students” alive. Then, with the sound of the siren, Puerto Rican Alfonso Plummer hits a three-pointer for 77:77 and overtime.
Plummer was the hero of the home team in overtime when he hit a double with an additional throw, and then in the next attack by Bosnia, a triple that “broke” the game in which Bosnia, nevertheless, achieved a significant victory in the battle for the TOP 8 league.
And, when after that Zadar somewhat tried to come back with results in overtime, he was judged by, you know who? Of course, Plummer. He also scored his seventh three-pointer, thus definitively solving the question of the winner.
Sarajevo have a record of six wins and five losses, currently in the fourth position leading to the final round of the competition.
The most effective player of the match was Mihailović, who scored 32 points in the end, while Plummer scored 30 for Bosnia.
In the next 14th round, on January 12 in Belgrade, Bosnia will be the guest of the favored Crvena zvezda.
