The ceremony was attended by the highest officials of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and EUFOR.
BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez stated that it is a matter of rebuilding the main logistics base, emphasizing that the investment amounts to around 480,000 euros, and that the donor was the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
– Today we are opening the renovated main logistics base, and the donor for the construction was the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. The investment is worth around 480,000 euros. I want to emphasize that, since I have been in this position for the past three years, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has invested about 25 million euros, which is why it has come to the first place when it comes to investments in infrastructure. The government of the Federal Republic of Germany helps our servicemen and women have better housing, better working conditions and that the infrastructure functions more efficiently. Today’s event is an example of such joint cooperation and partnership between the Ministry of Defense and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany – said Helez.

He added that new investments are planned in the coming period as well.
– We have a program for next year as well, investments continue and I hope that we will continue to cooperate successfully. I also want to emphasize that during this or the next week, we will present to the public the completion of the first phase of works on the House of Armed Forces, which will be one of the most beautiful parts of our city – said Helez.
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alfred Grannas, pointed out that this project is part of Germany’s wider support to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
– This is only one of 54 projects through which the Federal Republic of Germany supports the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our focus, as can be seen in this example, is to improve the working conditions and accommodation of members of the Armed Forces. Good working conditions for soldiers are the foundation of their readiness, commitment and professional activity. If these conditions are met, other segments of the system’s functioning will also be improved – said Grannas.
He emphasized that the projects are the result of coordination and partnership cooperation.
– We focused on fundamental matters in order to provide better working and living conditions to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Everything we do is realized in close cooperation with the Minister of Defense and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which I would like to thank them on this occasion. Also, all activities are coordinated with NATO’s efforts in the process of modernization of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina – emphasized Ambassador Grannas.
