Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement to exchange bodies as part of a cease-fire agreement brokered by the United States of America.
According to that agreement, for every hostage whose remains Hamas hands over, Israel is obliged to hand over the bodies of 15 residents of the Gaza Strip.
So far, Israel has handed over the bodies of 285 Palestinians, 84 of whom have been identified, according to Palestinian health authorities.
On Tuesday evening, Hamas handed over the body of an Israeli soldier who also had German citizenship to the Red Cross. Israel handed over the remains of 15 Palestinians on Wednesday.
On October 13, Hamas released the remaining hostages alive in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Despite the ceasefire, violent incidents in the Gaza Strip continue.
Since the ceasefire began on October 10, Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip have killed more than 240 people, according to Palestinian health authorities.
