Firefighters intervened with three vehicles, but despite their efforts, the mosque was completely burned down, reports infobrcko.
Hadži Paša’s mosque, also known as Kolobarska drvenija or Wooden Mosque, was built in the first half of the 19th century with the funds of Hadži Paša Mujkanović, an exile from Šabac. The mosque was identical to the Dizdaria mosque, which was built by his brother Hadži Dizdar Mujkanović in the center of Brčko.
During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hadži Pasha’s mosque was mined and destroyed on July 17, 1992. It was restored in its original form in 2011 and handed over to the Tariqat Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina, serving as a tekiya of the Nakšibendi Tariqat.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. The local community expresses its sadness at the loss of this important religious and cultural building.
