Bernis Ademović, President of the Association “Children of Srebrenica – New Generation”, informed the manifestation, emphasizing that the notice received from the Srebrenica Police station that due to the current situation in the region was not recommended to organize public gatherings.
The call also states that such events should be planned in advance, and the authorities are currently unable to ensure the appropriate accompaniment.
Ademović also pointed out that the commander informed the Association that the local political meeting of Bosniak representatives in the municipality led to this conclusion.
The President of the SDP Srebrenica, Ahmo Mehmedović, reacted to this decision. He stated that the cancellation of the Day of Independence Day of BiH in Srebrenica, for the first time after a few years, the embarrassing act and the defeat of those who were supposed to stand in the protection of the interests of their people.
“Independence Day symbolizes the fight for the survival and sovereignty of BiH, especially in Srebrenica. This decision shows that political comfort is more important than preserving the tradition and dignity of people who returned to Srebrenica,” Mehmedović said.
Mehmedović emphasized that the withdrawal in front of political pressures and calculations is unacceptable, especially in the middle where the statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina is denied daily.
He added that the SDP in Srebrenica strictly condemns this decision and will not be silent on political games that go to the detriment of the people.
