Georgieva stated this on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Central Bank of Albania and added that such an anniversary is not only an opportunity to celebrate the longevity of the institution, but also a testimony to the sustainable reform of the institution and its vision.
“Albania is committed to joining the European Union (EU) and the country has made steady progress towards that goal. The Bank of Albania has a key, dedicated and visionary role on this challenging path, in order to support the country in taking advantage of the opportunities offered by EU membership,” Georgieva said in her video address, reports MIA.
Georgieva also said that the IMF will continue to be a permanent partner on Albania’s path to membership in the European Union, supporting the aforementioned country with policies, research and capacity development.
