Single electronic cigarettes will no longer be sold in Geneva after the local parliament brought the law with an unanimous decision with an emergency clause that immediately entered into force, writes Swissinfo.
“These products, which are designed to attract young people, are a real shame,” Jennifer Conti Local Representative said.
Almost all members of the cantonal parliament condemned the harmful effects of public health and also highlighted the catastrophic impact of these one-time electronic cigarettes on the environment.
One-time electronic cigarettes, also known as “beams” or “Puff bars”, are available in Switzerland for about five years and are especially popular among young people.
Several cantons, including Valais, Bern and Jura, has already brought prohibitions. Similar initiatives also exist in Basel-Stadt, Ticino Cantons, Solothurn, Schaffhausen and Vaud.
