The Academy has been focused on the connection of young people in different areas in BiH in various areas, creating a platform for cooperation, innovation and research, which actively contributes to the construction of bridges between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora.
The head of the Bhaaas Student Program, Ljiljana Djukanovic, points out that working with young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a key segment of the Mission of this Organization.
– We have created a student program within our organization because we deeply believe that working with young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the best way to fulfill our mission and the wisest way to invest in our country. Through our mentoring program, summer internship, a rich student program on Bhaaas days and other activities organized with students and students, try to inspire students and help them become successful professionals and people. Participation in BhaaS activities is the opportunity for students to communicate with local and global experts and improve their future professional network. Through the Bhaaas Student program, we give space to students to express their needs and realize their ideas and initiatives – points out.
One of the significant programs that Bhaaas offers is the mentor program for medical students. Through this structured program, members of Bhaaas share their experience, expertise and resources with medical students, connecting them with mentors from all over the world.
– Students are elected based on the quality of their application and then connect to an adequate mentor that suits their interests. The program lasts from October to June, and the call for a new cycle opens in late June and lasts until September. We are currently in the second year of this very successful program. Last year, 15 students have successfully completed the mentoring program, and some of them continued to work with their mentors and after the program was completed – said dr. Djukanovic.
For biology students, Bhaaas devised a summer internship program that allows students to gain valuable practical experience in laboratories. Given that biology students in BiH do not have many opportunities for such types of experiences outside their academic curricula, this program helps them better prepare for the labor market. The program works through a public call, and students are elected based on the quality of applications and interviews. After the successful implementation of the first program cycle in the Tuzl Clinical Center, this year Bhaaas plans to expand the program to two more institutions.
Bhaaas also organizes Hackathon for technical studies, which provides students with the opportunity to work on solving specific problems in the field of artificial intelligence and technology.
Golden Akshami, the leader of the Department for Technical and Natural Sciences emphasizes that this event had an excellent response, and the opportunity to apply its knowledge in the creation of innovative solutions through the work in teams and presentation of its solutions before the Commission.
– Bhaaas organized AI Hackathon in cooperation with AnnT (Association of Progress of Science and Technology), providing the opportunity to participate in an intense event on the application of artificial intelligence on practical problems in science and technology. Our and Hackathon had an excellent response because eight student teams joined us, most of whom had four members. At the end of the first day of the competition, each team presented his conceptual solution, and after two full days of work, students showed everything they did. The Commission, which consisted of volunteers from Bhaaas and Annt, was very impressed by students in such a short time, which was offered by the Academic Director, which emphasizes the students not only fun and instructive experience and won the valuable Cash prizes, but also applied their results to a very important project for our academic community in BiH and the diaspora.
In addition to all of the above, dozens of students volunteer each year at the Annual Bhaaas conference that will be held in 16th this year. The road in Sarajevo. Students acquire experience in organizing great events, working in teams and communication with professionals, which offers the conference of the Bhaaas Days.
The ŠASTAESTI BHAAAS DAYS ARE THOUGH 19. to 22. June in Sarajevo and eminent experts and professionals from different areas will be prepared to share their knowledge and experience with young people and all interested.
