The World Handball Championship started with matches between Italy and Tunisia in Herning, Denmark, and France and Qatar in Poreč.
France beat Qatar 37:20.
The current world vice-champions, the French, had no problems in the Žatika hall against Qatar, led from the bench by former Zagreb coach Veselin Vujović. Today, both coaches gave minutes to almost all players, so as many as 21 players were among the scorers.
The most effective for France was left winger Thibaud Briet with seven goals, while Dika Mem scored four on the opposite, right side, as well as middle winger Aymeric Minne. For Qatar, Frankis Marzo, the top scorer of the World Cup 2021, scored four goals from 13 attempts.
Austria and Kuwait will play tonight in Poreč, while hosts Denmark and Algeria will play in Herning. Both games start at 20:30.
