Vaccination against seasonal flu in Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin at the beginning of November, it was confirmed in health institutions throughout the country.
Doctors state that, due to favorable weather conditions, there are not yet a large number of recorded cases of respiratory infections, the peak of which is expected in January and February. BHRT.
The epidemiological situation in Bijeljina is good for now, and only sporadic cases of respiratory infections have been reported, mostly in school-aged children. Vaccination against seasonal flu in this city will begin in November.
dr. Bojana Paleksić from the Bijeljina Health Center says that the preparations have been completed.
“We expect to start vaccination against seasonal flu at the beginning of November. Patients who receive a free vaccine are already showing up, and those who want to be vaccinated can buy the vaccine, pay for it and receive it at our HES,” she pointed out.
The Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton ordered 7,543 doses of flu vaccines for this season.
“These doses are sufficient. We will, as every year, carry out the widest coverage of immunization in all nine health centers and at least 50 localities, family medicine clinics. Our HES service is ready”, says the spokesperson of the Sarajevo Canton Health Center Arman Šarkić.
Different categories of the population, people on hemodialysis, patients with serious and chronic diseases, diabetics, certain categories of children and health workers are entitled to a free vaccine.
It is not yet known how much the vaccine will cost for those who are not entitled to free immunization, but many citizens believe that the price is too high.
Vaccination against the flu is recommended for people over 60 years old, immunocompromised people, patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women, war invalids, as well as anyone who is in frequent contact with a large number of people.
