British boxer Moses Itauma is the new heavyweight star, the 20-year-old supposedly sees his ideal opponent in Filip Hrgović, who suffered a defeat in his last appearance.
Moses Itauma appeared on the boxing scene and showed that he will be a new star. 11 wins and nine knockouts that caught the attention of the public were enough to make him a star at the age of 20.
As an amateur, he won gold at the European schools, juniors and youth competitions before moving to the European Championships in November 2022. Spain became world amateur champion for youth.
He is already mentioned as a guy who could become the new heavyweight champion, and his plans are to scalp a big name in 2025.
His promoter Francis Warren he has a clear plan and a list of boxers he would like to see fight. Among them is a Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic.
“Moses is ready to fight in April and then we will talk about a possible fight for the interim belt.”
“We will make a decision together with whom we will be in the ring, but there are a few names. Filip Hrgović, Otto Wallin, Justis Huni, Charles Martin are some of the names on our radar.”
Itauma who was born in Slovakia he sees himself as a modern gladiator.
“I see myself as a modern gladiator. I enter the arena and fight”, he said after knocking out the express Demsey McKean.”
He doesn’t give up Slovakiabut he experienced severe torture there because of the color of his skin.
“That country is part of my identity and I can’t change that, but I can’t say that we were treated like all other people. We were the only Africans, but I am proud of where I come from.”
“I took the best of both worlds. I have Slovakian ferocity and mentality, and Nigerian strength,” he said Itauma.
“El Animal” suffered the first defeat of his career last year. He overpowered him Daniel Dubois in the fight for the IBF belt, and after that Hrgovic withdrawn from public view.
He announced a big comeback. It should happen this year and we will see if he will eventually face the 20-year-old star.
