Turkey’s main expectation from the planned International Stabilization Force in Gaza is to provide guarantees that the fragile truce will last, the country’s defense ministry said on Thursday.
NATO member Turkey has been one of the most vocal critics of Israel’s devastating two-year assault on Gaza, calling it genocide.
It has emerged as a key actor and mediator in the cease-fire effort, expressing a desire to join the stabilization force despite repeated objections from Israel.
At a briefing in Ankara, the ministry also said Turkey believes the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) must ensure the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza in accordance with international law, Reuters reports.
