Young Brazilian striker Endrick admitted that before going on loan to Lyon, he spoke with his former coach in Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, and that this conversation had a great influence on his decision.
The 19-year-old drew attention to himself under Ancelotti’s leadership, but this season he hardly got a chance under Xabi Alonso, who succeeded the Italian expert.
“Yes, I spoke to Carl. He gave me advice on what I can do, what I need to work on to improve, and that really touched me,” said Endrick at the presentation in Lyon.
Endrick revealed that Ancelotti advised him to leave Real Madrid in order to get continuity of playing and further develop as a footballer.
“His advice was to leave Real Madrid, to play, to develop my football, to go where I can play and where I can be happy. Of course, the decision is mine, but Carlo had an important role because he is a great coach,” said the Brazilian.
This season, Endrick played in only three games for Real Madrid, but he emphasizes that he does not experience that period negatively.
“Honestly, what I tell those closest to me is that these were the best months of my career. I had time to be with my wife, build a house and my life,” said Endrick.
