On October 21, Director of Eko života Jasmin Osmanović visited the Municipality of Doboj-South, where a working meeting was held with the mayor of the municipality, Mirnes Tukić, and the director of JKP “VIS” doo Doboj-South, Maida Škilja.
The meeting was dedicated to the current situation in the municipality and the utility company, as well as further improvement of the packaging waste management system.
At the meeting, the Agreement on the provision of services in the handling of packaging waste was signed between JKP “VIS” doo and the operator Eko život doo Tuzla. The contracting parties undertook that all services will be performed professionally and with high quality, in accordance with current regulations, with the clear goal of improving the system of selective separation and recycling of packaging waste. By signing the contract, the conditions are created for the utility company PUK “VIS” to formally enter the waste selection and recycling system, thereby raising the standard of waste management in the municipality.
During the conversation, the director of Eko života Jasmin Osmanović introduced the head and director of the utility company to the obligations arising from the Ordinance on the management of packaging and packaging waste, and explained in detail how the extended liability system works and the contractual relations between operators and utility companies. He additionally emphasized that the partnership model of cooperation enables stable planning of waste flows, better logistics and a higher percentage of recovery of packaging materials.
Mayor Mirnes Tukić expressed a positive attitude and full support regarding the signing of the contract and upcoming cooperation between Eko života and JKP “VIS”, stressing the willingness of the municipality to provide the necessary institutional support in the introduction and development of the packaging waste collection system. He thanked the operator Eko život for the commitment and effort invested in this initiative.
The director of PUC “VIS”, Maid Škiljo, also expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached, stressing that the strategic goal of the utility company is to reduce waste disposal in landfills and that the selective collection of packaging waste will directly contribute to the reuse (recycling) of valuable materials in production.
All participants of the meeting agreed that with continuous work and engagement, significant progress can be achieved in the preservation and protection of the human environment, while respecting the principles of environmental protection, valid legal regulations and international standards.
