In the first round of qualifications, he faced the young Australian James McCabe, who after almost three hours of play came out as the winner with a score of 2:1 in sets.
McCabe, currently the 256th player on the ATP list, appeared in the qualifiers thanks to the organizers’ invitation. He won the first set with a score of 6:4.
Dzumhur fought back in the second set and won 6:3, but in the decisive third set McCabe was more successful and won 7:5, securing a place in the qualification final.
This is Dzumhur’s second consecutive loss, after he was previously eliminated in the second round of the Challenger in Canberra. However, in the new ATP list to be published tomorrow, he will maintain his current position, remaining the 83rd player in the world.
