Today, Denmark has made a decision on the closure of all airports for civilian flights, after the night, unknown drones noted near several military facilities, confirmed the defense minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Flight ban remains in force until Friday next week, reuters reports.
– We are in a difficult security situation and we must ensure the best possible working conditions for the Armed Forces and Police, especially before the EU summit – said Poulsen.
Denmark hosts a double-risk diplomatic event these days. The leaders of the EU member states are gathering on Wednesday, and the day later follows the summit of the European Political Community which brings together representatives of 47 countries.
In order to amplify surveillance, Germany has sent an anti-air defense frigate that arrived in the port of Copenhagen this morning, as an additional protection measure.
Danish Ministry of Defense said drones were noticed two nights in a row, but not published as many as it were, where they flew, nor who “capacities” arranged in response.
Poulsen described this activity as a potential “hybrid attack”, but did not state who could stand behind him.
Danish officials have previously warned not to exclude Russia, and similar activities were reported earlier this week, when unmanned aircraft were viewed above five Danish airports and strategic infrastructure in Copenhagen. That is why the main airport Kastrup was closed for several hours on Monday night.
