Demirović (27) has not played for Stuttgart since October, but he pointed out that he feels good and that he has been training with the team in the past weeks without major problems. He emphasized that “if there is pain, it is primarily of a psychological nature.”
He explained that the break was caused by a cracked scaphoid bone, which required him to be extra careful. Continuing to play would carry a high risk and almost certainly the need for surgery, which would mean several months off the field. That’s why he opted for conservative treatment, and now he points out that the hardest part of recovery is behind him and that he feels ready to return to competitive duties.
In Stuttgart, they hope that Demirović could be in the competition as early as January 10, when the continuation of the Bundesliga brings a visit to Bayer Leverkusen.
His return would also please the head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, Sergej Barbarez, considering that the striker would have enough time to get into competitive shape before the World Cup qualifying round in March and the match against Wales.
Before the injury, Demirović was in excellent form this season, scoring five goals in ten appearances for the German club.
