The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton undertook activities to ensure the continuity of the “ZDK Youth League” basketball competition in Zenica, in which around 200 young athletes participate.
The Ministry ensured the use of the sports hall of the Catholic School Center in Zenica for playing the remaining games until the end of the half-season, thus overcoming the problem caused by the lack of funds in the budget of the City of Zenica for the use of the City Arena “Husejin Smajlović” for the purpose of youth sports competitions.
The initiative to resolve this issue was initiated by the deputy chairman of the Assembly of ZDK Goran Bulajić and representative in the Assembly of ZDK Harun Čolić.
– After we became aware of the situation, we reacted in a short time in cooperation with the Ministry and KŠC in order to enable young athletes to continue the competition without interruption – said Bulajić.
Representative Čolić expressed his gratitude to the relevant Ministry and the Government of ZDK for their support and understanding, pointing out that this is an example of good cooperation between sports clubs, institutions and educational institutions.
At the meeting of the representatives of the Zenica basketball clubs, it was previously agreed to send a request to the Ministry and the management of the KŠC for the use of the hall, to which the management of the KŠC responded positively, recognizing the importance of the continuity of youth sports activities.
On this occasion, Minister Mirza Mushija pointed out that the Ministry continuously supports activities that contribute to the development of sports and the creation of conditions for working with young people.
– Our goal is to provide children and young people with the conditions for practicing sports and to jointly contribute to the development of the sports environment in the canton – emphasized Minister Mushija.
With this decision, it is possible for the “ZDK Youth League” competition to continue without interruption, which ensures the continuity of sports activities of young basketball players from Zenica.
