City prolonged the agony, Haaland the tragic

Manchester City and Everon opened the Boxing Day round of the Premier League with a match that ended 1:1.

It was a game in which “Citizens” had absolutely everything they needed to end the crisis. Already in the third minute, they showed how dangerous they will be, after it Josko Guardiol hit the post after Foden’s cross, and they took the lead in the 14th minute, when Bernardo Silva scored after a great assist from Doku, writes Gol.hr.

The same player could have made it 2:0, but missed a clean shot by Foden.

It’s Everton equalized in the 36th minute, when Illiman Ndiaye scored after a series of confused reactions from the home team’s defense. He almost hit before the break Mateo Kovačićbut his half-volley flew past the goal post, and City had the best opportunity to regain the lead in the 53rd minute, when Erling Haaland’s penalty kick was saved by Jordan Pickford.

City attacked until the end, but they didn’t manage to score a goal, and Everton had a great chance to punish it in one of the last attacks. They went four to two, but first Armando Broja held the ball too long, and then Jack Harrison was greedy, and he wanted to finish alone.

Thus, the end result was 1:1, which can be much more satisfying for the guests, who confirm themselves as a rather tough opponent. Sean Dyche finally managed to bring what he did in Burnley to the blue part of Merseyside. Manchester City is currently on only one win in the last ten games Premier League.
