Croatian tennis player Marin Čilić defeated German Daniel Altmaier in the first round of the Australian Open with a score of 6:0, 6:0, 7:6 after two hours of play.
Čilić, 70th in the ATP ranking, achieved victory in his first meeting with the German tennis player, who is ranked 44th in the world ranking.
This is the first time in Cilic’s career that he is at the Grand Slam won the first two sets with a score of 6:0.

Čilić became the first unseeded player to win the first two sets 6:0 at a Grand Slam since Philipp Petzschner, who did it at the Australian Open in 2012 in a match against Lukáš Rosol.

For a place in the third round of the Australian Open, Čilić will fight against the winner of the match between the Canadian Denis Shapovalov (ATP-23rd) and the Chinese Bu Yuanchaokete (ATP-120th).
