Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana is likely to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, manager Enzo Maresca said on Friday.
Fofana went through injury hell when he missed the entire 2023/24 season. due to ACL surgery in the preseason, but started the new season strong and was a cornerstone of Maresca’s defense.
The 24-year-old started every Chelsea game before picking up the injury against Aston Villa last month.
“Unfortunately, Fofana will be out for a very long time,” Maresca told reporters ahead of Saturday’s London derby away to Crystal Palace.
Chelsea were in second place at the start of December, giving their fans hope of a title challenge, but a month later they are only fourth, ten points behind leaders Liverpool, who even have a game in hand.
