Enzo Maresca is no longer Chelsea coach. The management of the London club decided to terminate cooperation with the Italian expert, although his five-year contract was signed less than two years ago. The decision was made after a streak of three games without a win, as well as due to deteriorating relations between the coach and the club management.
According to British and international media, the main candidate for the vacant position is Liam Rosenior. It is about a 41-year-old English coach who currently leads Strasbourg, a club that has the same owners as Chelsea, which should make the eventual transfer even easier.
Rosenior sat on the Strasbourg bench at the beginning of last season and led the team to seventh place in the table. Even in the current season, after 16 played rounds, the club is in the same position. In the Conference League, Strasbourg finished the league part of the competition in first place, winning 16 out of a possible 18 points.
Rosenior started his coaching career in 2022 as interim coach of Derby County, where he led the team for 12 games. After that, from November 2022 to May 2024, he was the head of Hull City’s coaching staff. As a player, he has had a rich career spanning 15 years in the Premier League and Championship, playing for clubs such as Fulham, Reading, Ipswich, Hull and Brighton.
