Zerina Patković, a twenty-four-year-old presenter at Tuzla Radio and Television (RTV) Slon, was brought to Tuzla by a complex of circumstances. The charming and versatile woman from Zenica who radiates positive energy arrived in Tuzla after finishing high school, and today she is known as one of the most beautiful presenters who appears on small screens in this city.
“After I finished grammar school in Zenica, the question ‘where and how next?’ Journalism has always been my love, but there was no such department in Zenica, so I had to choose between Sarajevo and Tuzla. I came to Tuzla by a combination of circumstances and I have not regretted it,” says Zerina for Klix.ba.
She continues that Tuzla has given her a lot.
“I made wonderful friends, met many people, got a job that I love and in general I think that the people of Tuzla are good hosts and always friendly, so from the first day I felt like I belonged here,” continues Zerina.
She has been working at RTV Slon for almost three years, and she points out that she is very fulfilled by the work she does.
You have to laugh even when you don’t feel like laughing
In the beginning, our interlocutor appeared on television screens through the music show “Top 7”, and today she brightens up viewers’ moments through the knowledge quiz “Who knows, knows” and the show “Radio from my street”.
“I am happy to do what fulfills me. I consider that I was lucky to do what I love and what I was educated for, because we are all aware of the situation in our country, that people often work jobs they are not satisfied with, or unfortunately do not work at all. It is rare that any of us young people work in the profession at the beginning of their working life. It is usually a longer process. I got the job of presenter at RTV Slon in the third year of my studies. Of course, no job is easy. In the job of a TV presenter, one of the most difficult moments is when you have to stand in front of the camera, without any of the viewers noticing that you are sick, in a bad mood and that you may have a difficult life situation. The viewer must not even suspect it. You have to laugh even when you don’t feel like laughing, as the people would say”, says this versatile woman from Zenica.
By the way, this work engagement is not Zerina’s first, considering that before coming to RTV Slon, she spent three months as a volunteer at Federal Radio as a correspondent from Tuzla, and after that at a web portal.
“There were short-term engagements that were not promising, but they certainly helped me pass the competition at the media company where I currently work. I would advise all students, especially those in our profession, not to look for a job after graduation, but during their studies, and to apply the knowledge they acquire during lectures as soon as possible in practice. That way, after completing his studies, he will be more ready for work”, adds Zerina.
This young woman from Zenica felt her love for journalism from an early age, and in her school days, as she tells us, she often imagined herself with a microphone in her hands.
“Improvising the microphone, I pretended in front of the mirror that I was keeping a diary or reporting from an event. Mom still tells everyone about it to this day, so journalism is something I always wanted and if I hadn’t been accepted to study Journalism in 2012, I don’t know what I would be doing today and what I would be doing, because there was no alternative and no will to do anything else.” , emphasizes Zerina.
What he likes most about this job is that the journalist has the opportunity to actually create public opinion and that with one of his contributions or text he can contribute a lot to the social community in a positive sense.
“That’s why not everyone can and should not do this job, but unfortunately in the age of modern technology and the Internet, you become a ‘journalist’ literally overnight,” adds Zerina.
Back on the catwalk
On the other hand, before appearing in front of the television cameras, this attractive presenter also stepped into the world of fashion.
“I started modeling in Zenica as a high school girl, but after I enrolled in college and moved to Tuzla, I stopped doing it, because then college was my priority and I wanted to dedicate myself to it completely. However, last year I stepped on the catwalk again and I must say it feels good to be back again. The good thing about all this is the fact that actually modeling and the job of a TV presenter go together. This is also supported by the fact that many current well-known presenters are former models or misses,” Zerina points out.
This year, our interlocutor also entered as a participant in the 2017 Miss Earth Bosnia and Herzegovina pageant, where she placed fourth.
“I have to admit that participating in the final contest for Miss Earth BiH 2017 was a beautiful and unforgettable experience. To be honest, I didn’t want to go and I haven’t participated in any pageant before, but at the persuasion of my friend I still went and I didn’t regret it. I met wonderful girls, but also many important people from the world of fashion and modeling, I had a great time and I have only the best memories,” he emphasizes.
He also believes that beauty is not a guarantee for success in any job.
“We all know that the road to success is long, difficult and thorny and that we can reach it only and exclusively with our knowledge, work and perseverance. Beauty can only be an additional bonus that will perhaps make the path to success easier, but it will definitely not ensure or guarantee it,” continues our interlocutor, who has had several engagements in fashion shows, and appears in two commercials and one musical that will soon see the light of day.
Positive and energetic
He also says that he is a very positive and energetic person in private.
“Sometimes I might be heavy. Considering that I am a Virgo in my horoscope, I am too much of a perfectionist, I analyze and plan too much. Everything has to be the way I planned and imagined in advance, I’m not spontaneous, so that sometimes annoys the people around me, but those who have known me for a long time have already gotten used to my flaws,” says Zerina.
He doesn’t have too much free time, but the little he does have he prefers to spend with friends.
On the other hand, if he happens to have a few days off, use that time to visit his native Zenica and his family.
“The biggest support all these years and the person who supported me absolutely in everything until now is my mom. All these years, a huge amount of sincere and immeasurable support is a great asset”, concludes Zerina.
In the future, she definitely sees herself in front of television cameras, because as she says at the end, it is a job that fulfills her and makes her immensely happy.
