The hall was filled to capacity, and those present showed how important this date is in the history of our homeland.
As part of the ceremonial program, the Minister of Education of the Croatian National Academy of Sciences, Adnan Velagić, addressed the attendees, who emphasized the importance of education, togetherness and fostering patriotic values among young people.
“Today we proudly mark one of the most important dates of our homeland – the day when, guided by our faith in freedom and the right to self-determination, we took a historic step towards a sovereign and democratic state. On February 29 and March 1, 1992, a referendum was held in which the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided on an independent state of equal peoples and citizens, thus laying the foundations for the independence of our homeland. It was an expression of the courage of our citizens to take responsibility for their future. Let this holiday be a reminder that freedom is not something that is taken for granted – freedom is preserved by caring, honesty and working for the welfare of the community. That is why we will try to support you during your education, and it is up to you to cultivate love and respect for our only homeland. The Ministry will continue to support the organization of such and similar events to promote our history, culture and tradition.
The program was completed with suitable cultural and artistic content performed by the students, who marked this important national holiday in a dignified and emotional way.
The ceremony took place in a solemn and proud atmosphere, leaving a strong impression on all present.
