The United Kingdom Government shares the concerns of the BH UK network due to irresponsible and unconstitutional activities of Milorad Dodik and the leadership of the Republika Srpska, representing a direct attack on the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitutional Framework of BiH. As a long-term partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, together with American and European Allies, emphasizes the importance of the rule of law, their commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH, and support the Dayton Peace Agreement and the role of the High Representative.
The Bosnian community in the UK sent a number of letters to British parliamentarians and the United Kingdom Government, expressing serious concerns about the Secessional Activities of the President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik.
In response, more letters of support from British parliamentarians arrived, and now the official response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth.

BH UK Network Thanks to the Government of Great Britain on the continuous support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its fight against the secessionist activities of Milorad Dodik. We especially appreciate the fact that during the debate in the Security Council of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Kingdom Government was loud in the defense of the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of BiH, the Dayton Peace Agreement and the rule of law.

The United Kingdom Government shares your concerns about the irresponsible and unconstitutional activities of the President of the Republika Srpska (RS) of Milorad Dodik and the broader leadership of the RS, representing a direct attack on the Dayton Peace Agreement (DMS) and the BiH Constitutional Framework. The United Kingdom, together with our American and European allies, has issued strong statements in which the importance of respect for the rule of law, our commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH, and our support to the Dayton Peace Agreement and the role of the High Representative. State Minister for Europe, North America and the overseas territory, Stephen Doughty MP, repeated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković during their conversation. The United Kingdom Government remains in close contact with the EU Delegation, the USA and wider international partners as the situation develops.
Out of BiH, we are committed to engagement with the leaders of the countries of the region, including Serbia and Hungary, calling them to use their influence to encourage the construction of politicians in BiH, and to refrain from the procedures that could underline BiH’s constitutional framework.
We also took measures to counter the destabilizing reactions of other countries, including Russia’s efforts to strengthen Dodik’s unfounded assertion on the international scene that the RS is under attack. During the hearing in the Security Council of the United Nations and the organization for safety and cooperation in Europe, the Government of the United Kingdom was loud in the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH, DMS and the rule of law. We also reiterated that the DMS signatories are legally obliged to appreciate BiH’s political independence and called the international community to refrain from unjustified mixing into its internal affairs.
Moreover, the United Kingdom supports local actors, including the BiH Constitutional Court, in their efforts to annul the unconstitutional laws and protection of the state institution from attempting to undergo their undercutting. Dodik remains under the sanctions of the United Kingdom due to its earlier attempts to undermine institutions, and we will continue to challenge those who seek to jeopardize the legitimacy and functionality of BiH.
Meanwhile, we strongly support all political actors, at the state and entity levels, working on achieving benefits for BiH citizens. The best response to Dodik’s rhetoric and procedures is to achieve specific results that support citizens, and at the same time strengthen the integrity and stability of the state. This is crucial as I would progress on my Euro-Atlantic path. The United Kingdom, the United States and the EU are united in its support safer, more stable and prosperous BiH and will continue to actively work together in achieving that goal.
