Borna Barišić (33) returned to NK Osijek.
The currently bottom-placed SuperSport HNL club posted a video on social media showing how Barišić stands at the Opus Arena, thus announcing the imminent official announcement of the job.
The experienced left winger thus returned to his hometown and the club where he started his career. He comes as a free agent, given that he has been without a club since the summer after a serious injury. He had the last engagement in Trabzonspor, who loaned him to Leganes at the beginning of the year, but Barišić suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the first game for the then Spanish first division team. After a long recovery comes the help of the team Željko Sopić in the fight to stay, reports Index.hr.
Barišić was once the captain of Osijek and is for him collected 124 appearances, in which he scored eight goals and 22 assists. He had his first senior engagement in Osijek from 2013 to 2015, when he was bought by Dinamo. He did not get a chance at Maksimir and, after a loan at Lokomotiva, returned to the City Garden in 2016 and spent two more years there. He followed transfer to Rangers worth 2.45 million euros.
He was in Scotland for six years and is for a club from Glasgow played as many as 236 times. In that period, it was standard on the lists Zlatko Dalić and he was with the Croatian national team at Euro 2021 and at the World Championship in 2022, where he won bronze.
