Yesterday, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a decision in the case of Esad Avdić and others, according to which the proposal of the defense of the suspect Nenad Nešić was accepted. The proposal was previously unanimously supported by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Based on the Court’s decision, Nešić was granted bail in the amount of 1,370,000 KM, which canceled the previous banning measures. According to the statement of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, travel ban measures and mandatory periodic reporting to state authorities have been lifted. However, the control of other prohibition measures, such as the prohibition of meeting with certain persons, will continue in accordance with the latest decision of the Court.
The Court specifically warned Nešić that, if he does not respond to the summons of the Court or the Prosecutor’s Office, or if there is a legal basis for detention, the bail will be canceled and the detention will be ordered again. This measure of ensuring presence can last until the legal end of the criminal proceedings or until a different decision of the Court.
Let us remind you that Nešić was previously released from custody on May 16 this year, when the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to replace his custody with injunctive measures. He was arrested at the end of December 2024 as part of the “Tunel 2” action, together with several people, including Mirko Pandurević, general director of “Romanijaputeva”, Srđan Mijatović, executive director for economic and financial affairs in “Putevi Republika Srpska”, and Mladen Čajić, an employee of the same company.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges the suspects with serious crimes, including conspiracy to commit crimes, money laundering, abuse of official position and accepting bribes. The investigation also includes illegal transactions with the company Legend doo, which, according to the accusations, supplied companies with abrasive materials at significantly higher than market prices.
At the time of his arrest, Nešić was the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but he resigned on January 23 of this year.
