According to the waterfall, the name also received a nearby village, scattered among pastures ideal for animal husbandry. Precisely because of its preservation and authenticity, this site has a huge potential for the development of rural and ecological tourism.
– From here another kilometer and a source of the stream is located, so we went there. It was wonderful and it was worth every step – said Dino from Bihac.
The waterfall arises immediately after the source of the stream and is about ten meters high. It leads the trail along the coastline, which, although congested, provides through a thick forest that makes eternal shade. The sound of eaves of water and tweeting birds create an ambience that provides complete escape from everyday life.

The importance of this site goes beyond the waterfall – the area around the village of Skakavac is also rich in other natural phenomena. Among them are natural pits and caves, like a pit of a nun, deep about a hundred meters, which locals call the abyss. There is also a large beam cave, rich in stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a smaller cave at the Marjanović site.
– I love to come here. I wasn’t three months, the way is a little congested than usual, but that’s not a problem. When he comes here, all worries disappear – says one of the locals of Bosanski Petrovac, who came with aunt to another visit to the waterfall.
Nevertheless, all visitors share the same appeal – it is necessary to urgently engage local competent services and forestry to cleanse and provide access trails, especially given that the tourist season is “in front of the door.”
The Skakavac Waterfall and its surroundings offer rarely seen synergies of natural beauty and peace, but to make this site really become a tourist brand, it is necessary to invest minimal effort in its availability and promotion.
