“Munich Security Conference (MSC) is without a doubt the most comprehensive regular diplomatic event on European soil. In this continent, namely, no other gathered such a wide range of the highest officials of such a large number of countries. Moreover, in the world level, it only manages to the UN General Assembly, “the Ambassador Arnaut.
Arnaut adds that MSC has been operating for more than 60 years and focus on current events, current hotspots or potential. Bosnia and Herzegovina did not stop being focusing on its independence. It is badly bad because despite the wishes of the great majority of our people to finally become a “boring” central European country in the world media only when we win the Oscar or Golden Bear, we were one of the topics of the session of this conference. On the other hand, considering that long lasting statements from our neighborhood on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is good to be on the radar of the world’s most powerful actors. But not enough.
It is necessary with these actors – as many of them and at the highest possible level – to present them in the latest developments, to inform them with the opportunities that we are also obstructed, present the threats that we face and offer solutions. On MSC to last year, unfortunately, we have not seen the previous fifteen. This is not surprising because for such action at this level, top-quality education, a long political action at the state level, rich internationally experience, and top-quality diplomatic skills, both the main interlocutor and the entire team. And on top of all it takes continuous and focused work on the international scene during the rest of the year because the most supportive meetings on MSC leans on the previously realized contacts and already established confidence. At the same time, careful preparations and projecting of changes that are ahead to meet people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will decide in the future period of interest in our country.
It is for all these reasons, the member of the Presidency of BiH dr. Denis Bećirović managed to take intensive talks with over 20 highest officials of the most influential states, institutions and international organizations. Numerous incidental meetings and short information shares while we rush from one meeting to another there I don’t even ease.
When it comes to SR Germany, as a kind of host MSC, Bećirović’s talks with Chancellor Scholz and Minister Baerbock represented a concrete sequel with as many as seven meetings that Bećirović had with Scholz, or three with Baerbock. I remind you that these encounters were key to the adoption of the UN Genocide Resolution in the UN General Assembly, but also for the fact that FR Germany was the first major force that officially condemned the adoption of the DECv.
