US President Donald Trump has announced that America and Iran have reached an agreement on a two-week ceasefire.
According to a post on the Truth Social social network, the ceasefire was brought about with the help of Pakistan.
“Based on discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, during which they requested that I delay the destructive force that was directed at Iran tonight, and on the condition that the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to the full, immediate and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a mutual ceasefire!”, announced Trump.
He went on to state the reasons for agreeing to the truce, repeating claims about “the fulfillment of all military objectives”.
“We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran and we believe it represents a workable basis for negotiations. Almost all points of previous disagreement have already been agreed between the US and Iran, but the two-week period will allow the agreement to be finalized and concluded,” Trump said.
