The visit was organized as part of the practical segment of the workshop conducted by the United Nations Convention for the Fight against Desertification (UNCCD) through the Peace Forest Initiative, in cooperation with FAO. The event gathered representatives of state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entities, Brčko District, International Organizations and Experts in the field of soil protection, water and forest.
On the plantations of Agroherc Organic, guests were greeted by representatives of the company and presented the model of binodynamic and regenerative agriculture, which Agroherc spends more than 140 hectares of Herzegovina Krš. The special focus is placed on the practice of complying with natural cycles and the use of land in accordance with the highest environmental standards, which is confirmed by the prestigious Demeter certificate.
The State Program Coordinator for FAO in BiH, Vlado Pijunović said on this occasion:
“We recognized Agroherc Organic as a market leader in terms of innovation. The only company in BiH has a biodinamic Demeter and digitization in agriculture and therefore supporting Agroherc organic as an example of good practice that can inspire others.”
Pijunovic also emphasized the importance of conservation of land, pointing out that almost a third of land resources in BiH was degraded. He also said that FAO plans to invest 10 million KM in the next five years in the renovation of degraded land in Herzegovina, with a special focus on the area from Čapljina to Mostar and part of Trebinje.
